- Go for the option stating System Restore to reverse your settings
- The next screen lists the restore points created at different times
- Choose a point where you want your system to be restored (preferably most recent)
Windows Re-Install
If the problem persists, go for a clean install. This would permanently remove old settings and data in your system drive, but will most probably solve your issue. Once you have re-installed Windows, you can revive your settings from a backup stored on a removable disc or drive, if any.
- Go to Advance Recovery Options, while you boot from Windows installation disc
- Go for the last option stating Re-install Windows, for a fresh set up
- On the next screen, confirm the input language and click Next button
- Please wait, while your computer copies Windows files and extracts them
- Type a username, computer name, and proceed with Next button
- On the next screen, choose from the Windows Updates settings
- Select your Time Zone, set up correct time, and click Next
- Select your computers current location on the network, and move with Next
Applying these steps would definitely help you to cope up with seeing irritating I/O error.
How do you solve this 0xc00000e9 error if you do not have the original disks (none were furnished with the PC purchase) and never made any backup/restore disks. The computer will not boot far enough to get into the safe mode with command prompt, and will not get to any recovery mode. If you boot under the safe mode with command prompt, it will generate a list of roughly a hundred or so files before freezing on something called Classpnp or the such. At that point it will just completely stop and eventually default back to the bootup mode, returning to the same error screen.
This is not my PC………..I have learned in the past the value of having restore disks and original startup disks. This is a laptop of a friend of my son…………but it was bought new and did not come with any disks. The manufacturer did not make them available. I am just trying to help the boy get his computer working again. It was working fine last night and just froze……….no external devices were attached and nothing unusual was occurring. It just froze as computers do and was like this when it rebooted.

On your PC you can create a Rescue Boot Disc or Recovery Drive\Disc and then put it on the faulted system.
Rescue Boot Disc to scan for virus
Recovery Drive\Disc to scan the Hard Drive for errors via chkdsk and repair system files by running SFC
I was doing a install of windows 7 on a old pc and I was getting the above error when first booing from the windows 7 install CD, It worked out to be a faulty CD/DVD Drive. Replaced the drive all is fine.
myn pc is showing this error …but once i replug my RAM and do some thing with wires it works n pc starts…but this is persisting continuosly…after some time..please help!!

Firstly I am almost certain this has happened as an indirect result of installing windows
I tried installing windows from my dvd-rom and kept getting a message the windows could not be installed onto that hdd, tried deleting then refortting still the same issue, then after checking forums my suspicions were confirmed it is an issue with my 3tb hd which is configured gor GPT use not NTFS or fat32, so I dissconnected it and the other 2 hdd’s which are all SATAs.. tried the setup again and this time it started installing
Now I rebooted the machine and windows stats up no problem, after avtivating windows I decided to reconnect my Other 3 hdd’s and then this problem started because from previous knowledge of first installing the 3gb (GPT) I know that this mode requires the bios to be set i think to UEFI so tried this and same error, ok I thought i’ll try my recovery disk and this I think might be important it points to a problem with a corrupt MBR (Master boot record) it didn’t say missing but it did show NTLDR which I have had problems with and issues in the past
So it is not a program (new windows installation) it is not a failing HDD , and lol (i’m afraid that’s ridiculous) it is certainly not virus attack , and your making yourself look foolish by saying that, I believe the differing file formats and changing to a possibly incorrect BIOS mode has or maybe the I/O order of my hdd’s when I reconnected everything is not following what is protocol either for the computer or windows

I have been having this issue for quite a while now. I had installed Windows 10, and for about 2 months everything was okay. Then my mouse stopped working for my laptop, and I thought it was a issue of HID Pointing Drawing Update from Windows that was not updating the driver. So I waited it out, and for about a month I did not use my computer. After that, I went back on and just started to use my keyboard to navigate around. Eventually I got sick of that and tried to fix it by resetting everything on my laptop by doing the Windows re-install. I restarted my laptop, and when it loaded up it said

This Problem can happen when a removable storage device is removed while it is in use or is failing. Properly connecting any removable storage and restarting your PC may fix this problem.

Check your boot sequence in the bios first thing. I am having the same problem. For some reason the bios keeps changing to the wrong hard drive to boot from. Hope this helps someone.
Try replacing your CMOS battery
